Old Victorian Bulldogs
General Description:
The Old Victorian Bulldog is large-headed and thick-boned, but only to the point that it does not impede vigor. It is broad-muzzled and short-faced, but not so excessive as to interfere with breathing. The hindquarters are somewhat higher and not as heavy as its foreparts, but not so as to destroy the symmetry of a muscular athlete. The head should be large but not exaggerated out of proportion to the body. The cheeks are rounded and extend sideways beyond the eyes. The face is measured from the front of the cheekbone to the tip of the nose, long enough for unhindered breathing. The muzzle is broad and turning up, undershot but not to excess. The nostrils are large and wide. The flews are broad and hang over the lower jaw at the sides. The canine teeth are large and wide apart. The eyes from the front are set low and wide apart.
The ears are either rose or button. The neck is thick, strong and arched, with loose skin forming dewlaps on each side. The shoulders are broad and deep. The chest is wide, narrowing toward the loins. The forelegs are muscular, straight and wide apart. The hind legs are strong and muscular. The hocks are slightly bent. The feet are round and compact and either straight, turning down or screwed. The coat is smooth and short. Colors include all brindles, solid white or pied, solid red, fawn or fallow.
Character:
The Old Victorian Bulldogs is a friendly and tough breed. Friendly by nature, this dog will be sweet and loving with all people, including small children. This breed also gets along well with other animals in the family. Luckily, this breed does not bark often unless something feels like a threat. A distinct feature of this breed is how bold they are. This breed will never back down, but they are also not naturally aggressive. Often stubborn, the Old Victorian Bulldogs can be difficult to train and so training should begin at a young age.

Males 17 – 19 inches (43 – 48 cm)
Females 16 – 19 inches (41 – 48 cm)

General Health:
The Old Victorian Bulldogs is relatively healthy especially compared to many other bulldog breeds. However, they have some infrequent health concerns, such as Entropian, cherry eye, and often their joints grow slowly. Their average life expectancy is 10-14 years.
History:
The Old Victorian Bulldogs, like many similar breeds, was created in an attempt to build a healthy bulldog. The Original Cross is American bulldogs, English Bulldogs, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
Maintenance:
The Old Victorian Bulldogs is easy to groom with only a few needs. Brushing should be done even though their coat is smooth and sleek; frequent brushing or combing is necessary. Also important is cleaning their face wrinkles with a damp cloth every day. Exercise is also needed every day; the best form of exercise for this breed is a good walk.
Ideal Environment
The Old Victorian Bulldogs is a sweet dog that is friendly with everyone including children and animals. Owners who do not want much grooming and who like to go on long walks will be the perfect match for this cute dog. Early training is required because of the breed’s stubborn nature. Great for living in an apartment, the Old Victorian Bulldogs is calm in the house and does well in any climate.
